Timing the Decisive Moment
The art of knowing when to act, when to withdraw, and when to stop.
Adjusting isn’t just technique. It’s timing.
Adjusting in Tone
The Tone of Generations
When you place your hands on someone, whose pattern are you really feeling?
What if the tone you feel didn't begin with the person on your table?
Every person carries a story.
A story shaped by their experiences, their environment, their relationships and the generations that came before them.
As hands-on practitioners, we learn to recognise tension, restriction, movement and changes in tissue tone. But have you ever wondered whether what you're feeling is unique to the individual, or part of a pattern that has travelled through their family?
Is it their tone, or is it the tone of generations?
Families share more than physical characteristics. They can also share patterns of posture, movement, breathing and responses to stress. Some characteristics are inherited, while others are learned and reinforced through shared experiences.
How might these patterns express themselves in the body?
And more importantly, how do we begin to recognise the difference?
Welcome to The Tone of Generations, a new hands-on workshop in the Adjusting in Tone series.
This seminar invites you to look beyond the individual and explore the fascinating relationship between familial patterns, the nervous system and the way the body organises itself.
Because sometimes, understanding the person in front of you means becoming curious about the generations behind them.
*Limited to 30 practitioners per event
There comes a point in practice where you know the adjustment you were taught isn’t the one the body needs……but you do it anyway. Because that’s what you were trained to do.
You feel:
The body isn’t ready
The response isn’t landing
Something is being missed.
And over time, that creates doubt. Not in chiropractic, but in how you're applying it. The issue isn’t your technique. And it’s not that you’re “too sensitive.”
It’s that most practitioners were never taught how to:
Read tone before force
Recognise when the body is not ready to receive an adjustment
When you understand this, everything changes.
The Art of Knowing When Enough Is Enough
A great practitioner is not defined by how many techniques they perform or how long their hands remain on a patient.
It is the quality of their observation, the intention behind their intervention and the judgement to recognise when no further input is needed.
Don't fill time. Develop timing.
Join us for Adjusting in Tone – Timing the Decisive Moment and discover the art of knowing when to act, when to withdraw and when to stop
Adjusting isn’t just technique.
It’s timing.
Refine how you read the body, understand tone, and adjust with precision - not force
ADJUSTING IN TONE
Adjusting in Tone is a practical, hands-on training designed to refine how you assess, interpret, and adjust the body. This is not about doing more. It’s about seeing more and acting with precision.
Module : Tone of Generations : December 12th 2026 - Sydney
Why Attend This Seminar?
Most practitioners are trained to assess what is happening in the body today.
We look at posture, movement, muscle tension and areas of restriction. We identify patterns and determine where to intervene.
But what if there is another layer worth considering?
What if some of the patterns we observe have been shaped over generations?
In this workshop, we explore how familial influences may contribute to the way a person holds themselves, responds to stress and expresses tone.
You'll explore how to:
Recognise familial patterns: Explore how shared physical characteristics, behaviours and responses may appear across generations.
Refine your palpation: Develop greater sensitivity to the different expressions of tone beneath your hands.
Look beyond the individual: Consider how family history, inherited characteristics and learned patterns may influence the body.
Recognise recurring patterns: Explore similarities in posture, movement, breathing and physical responses.
Deepen your clinical curiosity: Learn to distinguish what you can directly observe from what requires further questioning and exploration.
Bring greater awareness to your touch: Develop a more thoughtful approach to working with the individual and their unique history.
The intention is not simply to feel more. It is to understand more about what you are feeling.

Who Is This Workshop For?
This workshop is designed for hands-on practitioners, including chiropractors, osteopaths, physiotherapists, massage therapists and other manual therapists.
It is particularly suited to practitioners who:
Feel there is more to palpation than identifying physical restrictions.
Are curious about the relationship between family history and physical patterns.
Want to develop greater sensitivity and discernment through their hands.
Have noticed similarities in the way family members hold tension or move.
Enjoy exploring the relationship between anatomy, neurology and human experience.
Are ready to question what they think they know about the body.
You don't need to have studied generational patterns before.
You simply need curiosity, an open mind and a willingness to explore another dimension of palpation.
-
Who Is This Workshop Not For?
This workshop may not be for you if you:
Are looking for a collection of new adjustment techniques rather than a deeper understanding of palpation.
Prefer to view the body solely through isolated muscles, joints and structures.
Are unwilling to explore how family history and lived experiences may influence physical patterns.
Are seeking definitive diagnoses of inherited or generational experiences through touch alone.
This workshop is for practitioners willing to look beyond what is immediately obvious and become curious about what may lie beneath.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is meant by the Tone of Generations?
The Tone of Generations explores how physical and behavioural patterns may be shared within families. These may include inherited characteristics, learned postural habits, breathing patterns and responses to stress. We investigate how these influences may contribute to the tone we experience through palpation.
2. How can I tell whether a pattern is individual or familial?
This is one of the central questions of the workshop. Through observation, palpation, practical exercises and consideration of family history, we explore ways to recognise recurring patterns. Touch can reveal physical characteristics, but it cannot independently establish whether a pattern has a generational origin.
3. Is this workshop about inherited trauma?
Not exclusively. Although experiences of stress and adversity may influence families across generations, this workshop takes a broader perspective. We explore physical, neurological, behavioural and environmental influences without assuming that every pattern has a traumatic origin.
4. Will there be hands-on practice?
Yes. As with all Adjusting in Tone seminars, practical experience is central to the learning. You will participate in guided palpation and observation exercises designed to deepen your awareness of physical patterns and tissue tone.
5. Do I need to have completed previous Adjusting in Tone modules?
No. This workshop introduces a different perspective on palpation and can be explored independently. Previous experience with Adjusting in Tone may provide additional context.
6. What will I take away from this workshop?
A broader perspective on the person beneath your hands. You'll develop greater awareness of familial influences, refine your observation skills and explore how to integrate this understanding into thoughtful, individualised care.
